sauteed garlic lemon shrimp, brussel sprouts sauteed with onion and chorizo, white sweet potatoes mashed with boursin cheese, honey-brined turkey with lemon and herbs, sausage-bread stuffing, and homemade gravy.

the perfect finale: my brother’s espresso cheesecake.

Sad, nostalgic, vibrant image right out of my childhood memories. See that building on the other side of the bridge, the red brick one? I used to lie awake at night there, staring out the window at the bridge and the massive neon Coca Cola sign across the river, which was so bright that I couldn’t sleep.

According to NME.com, Jack White gave a surprise lecture at Dublin’s Trinity College October 18.

During this candid discussion, White revealed that his former band, The Upholsterers (his band back when he worked in an upholstery shop in Detroit), recorded a run of vinyl EPs. These were recorded on clear vinyl, encased in a transparent covering, and hidden in 100 pieces of furniture that he upholstered.

Has your furniture ever been upholstered in Detroit? If so, it might just be hiding a little gem…
