LA Stair Locator

tumblangeles:

Workout, stroll, seeing new sites…I didn’t know there were so many public staircases in Los Angeles!

Noted, for my trip to LA next week. Who says you can’t walk in LA?

(BTW, clicking on the link led me down a very distracting path (websites! books!) to discovering secret stairways all across the country. This might become a new hobby.)

The Edison [bar/lounge], Downtown Los Angeles (enlarge pic)
Housed in the Los Angeles’ first power plant (and the first building in Los Angeles to have electricity). Built in 1910 by Thomas Higgins, a copper baron. After spending many years derelict and underwater, it was finally rescued by Andrew Meieran and Marc Smith, who have created an incredible post-industrial venue for Los Angeles bar-goers. (view panoramic tour here)

On my list for the April trip to LA.
